Robert M. Sides offers new and used options in both learning and performance level instruments. Our pre-owned inventory of performance level instruments have been cleaned, repaired and restored to top playing condition by our expert technicians and provide a high level of performance at affordable prices. Pre-owned inventory changes often and is located in each of our 4 stores so if something on the list below catches your eye, please call or email us and the instrument(s) will be transferred to the closest Robert M. Sides location for you to try.
What’s the difference between used, pre-owned, trade-in, rental return, rebuilt etc….?
Every “used” instrument has a different story to tell. Some were rented for just a few months and returned and while other served in school music programs and have been overhauled in our repair shop. Our trade-in and consignment programs also bring a lot of instruments to us that have been well maintained by their previous owners prior to coming to us. The first priority of our repair shop is playability and performance of each instrument. Cosmetic repairs are prioritized and completed based on factors such as cost, age of the instrument and impact on performance/playability.
Our pre-owned grading scale is based mostly on cosmetic wear since our repair shop most of our inventory looks just as good as it plays and sounds.
